Should You Install Video Surveillance Cameras Around Your Swimming Pool?

2 min read

Either you bought a house that had a swimming pool in the backyard or you’ve decided it’s time to install one for your family. How much time have you put into the safety issues for your children and your pets? It’s always best if your children know how to swim, but even if they do they should never be in the pool without adult supervision. Accidents can happen in the blink of an eye so you always have to be vigilant.

Your children would probably be in the swimming pool morning, noon and night if you let them. You might have time to lounge around the pool a few hours a day, but you don’t have the luxury of spending 12 hours a day out there watching them. Did you ever wonder if a surveillance camera will help solve your problem and provide an extra layer of protection?

Installing a home surveillance camera system will allow you to be in another part of the yard or house and still be able to keep an eye on the commercial pool furniture swimming pool. Purchasing an all-weather system is the way to go and you might even want to consider a camera with night vision. Do-it-yourselfers can purchase and install a surveillance system or you can hire a professional to do it for you. Many systems can be hooked up and can run through the televisions in your house.

If your swimming pool is oddly shaped or curves around the yard or even has a waterfall or other custom designs, you may need to install more than one camera to make sure you have the whole pool area covered. Since you’re installing a surveillance system on the pool you might want to have it extend to the nooks and crannies of your backyard for a total security system.

Regardless of whether you’ve installed cameras and have a way to watch the children no matter where you are in the house, you might always want to install a pool alarm. In some areas of the country pool alarms are required by municipal law. With a pool alarm you will be alerted in the event someone – or something, like a pet – goes into the pool without your prior knowledge.

Nothing can take the place of adult, on-site supervision of all those who are swimming. There are times, though, when you just have to step away from the pool but knowing that you can have a surveillance system you can keep an eye on will give you peace of mind.
