Karaka Lakes – A New Development And A New Lifestyle

Karaka Lakes is part of a recent development 30 minutes drive south of central Auckland. This classy subdivision provides its residents with an alternative lifestyle to the hustle and bustle of the city, with a relaxed way of life in picturesque surrounds. Over the last 12 months the area has seen some major developments, with new areas of the subdivision opened, new roads to the harbour opened, and the local school opening. Read more in this article about this new development and why residents love their lifestyle here.

The Karaka Lakes area is part of a new development south of Auckland. The first development was the successful Karaka Harbourside subdivision, which quickly attracted interest for many people searching for a new home out of the central city. The Karaka Lakes development followed closely, with the same parkland style layout and modern luxury homes being built.

The attractions of Karaka are many. Firstly, because of its location near the Auckland Motorway and the Papakura train station it made it an easy commute for workers travelling into the central city or its southern and eastern suburbs. Secondly, the price of a home and land package is reasonable in comparison to the exhoborant prices nearer suburbs are asking. Thirdly, there are two new schools located nearby, one within walking distance, both in zone for the Karaka area and both rated a high decile. Last but not least, the subdivisions in Karaka are incredibly well thought out, with views of the harbour, park like lakes, wide footpaths, playgrounds and covenants to ensure only quality building takes place in the area.

It is not only the luxury homes of the area that attracts people, but the new lifestyle people find in shifting there. Speaking to residents of Karaka Lakes we found that there was a strong sense of community in the area, probably due to like minded people being attracted to the neighbourhood. Residents spoke of street dinner parties throughout the year, and even Christmas decoration competitions that for one street included a homemade sleigh that was used to pull the kids around.

The sense of space, well lit streets, and a community feel is what residents say makes the area feel very safe. Some even commented that they were happy to run in the evening or early hours of the morning when it was dark because they felt safe in the new subdivision. There are also new walkways provided along the entire foreshore on the harbour side, which are even wide enough for baby strollers.

For those who want to explore a little further afield, the Clevedon markets are a great place to visit on Sundays, Clarkes Beach is a lovely spot to visit for a swim or picnic with the family, and the Botanical Gardens are a short drive away. For sporting facilities there is the Massey Park Aquatic Centre in Papakura, which has an Olympic class swimming pool and a wave pool for kids. Plus, for motor enthusiasts there is the Pukekohe Park race track only 15 minutes drive away, and of course Hampton Downs is located just down the road. In addition there are shopping malls, restaurants, cafes and theatres all within a short and easy drive, or you could catch the train into the city on the weekend.

As you can see, there are endless reasons for why Karaka has attracted so many new residents. If you want to live in Auckland, or want to improve your lifestyle, you should come and check it out yourself.
